Grab a cup of coffee, put your thinking cap on and join me for a few minutes to learn about insurance. Wait! Before you go… I know Insurance is complicated, boring and downright confusing. And I am certain you can immediately think of a thousand other things you would rather spend your time doing right now than reading a blog site about insurance. Many people lose interest as soon as the word insurance is mentioned. I get it. That is why I created “a guide to better understanding insurance”.

When I began my career in the insurance industry as an auto claims adjuster I saw firsthand how insurance played role in people’s lives. I became aware of the problems that come with not having enough coverage and I learned the importance of why people should understand their insurance policy. I recall a claim that was assigned to me on Thanksgiving morning 2001 where a vehicle struck another vehicle on I-95. Both vehicles were destroyed and there were severe injuries with a loss of lives. I was saddened that this accident was going to be the Thanksgiving memories for the two families involved. Although the insurance policy would never have been able to heal the pain and suffering of the people involved in this accident, the policy could have been able to better protect the negligent driver from the financial and legal ramifications of the accident had they made a different choice with their coverage limits. Being a claims adjuster, you can only help people after the accident happened where they had already made their coverage decision. As an insurance agent, I am able to help people make the important coverage decisions before the accident happens.

I created My Florida Insurance Advisor as a tool to educate people about insurance. I hope to convey to you in simplistic terms how your insurance policies work and I will use examples to illustrate what the coverage does. You will also find informational links which will substantiate some of the concepts I have discussed. Weather you own a mansion or are just starting out, insurance is applicable to all lifestyles.
